Sky Lakes Gateway Project

CDCA has fielded its first project!

We set up a Winlink gateway for Sky Lakes Amateur Radio Association located at Sky Lakes Medical Center. Currently, the station is a packet gateway waiting for some hardware to finish the HF gateway.

This community emergency radio and preparedness project is a cooperative effort between
Sky Lakes Amateur Radio Association, Sky Lakes Medical Center, Klamath Basin Amateur Radio Association, and Civil Defense Communications Auxiliary.

During the build process, the station is on-air under CDCA’s callsign N7CDC-10 on 145.050 MHz. The station is reachable direct or through the HAMAKR and HOGBAK digipeaters. We have had successful connections and transfers from Mnt. Ashland making Rogue Valley access to the Klamath Basin possible by VHF packet.

Once approval has been granted by Winlink to the Sky Lakes ARA, the callsign will be changed to KD7TNG-10

The success of the Mt. Ashland transfer and existing transfers through and to HAMAKR from several northern California and southern Oregon areas means a viable Winlink path now exists for several isolated communities. In grid-down, communications-down, emergencies these remote areas have a practical emergency communications option.
